Just a side note... The reason I am driving an older honda now is because we got rid of our SUV. I have been driving those rigs for years and what with the cost of gas and the economy in the toilet, and my husbands business is at a stand still (construction), it seemed the practical thing to do!!! I think there should be atleast one car that is owned out right in these tough times. Besides, I have teenagers in the house and this will be a great learner car. It has 103,000 miles on it and we spent $1300 for it--plus the starter now. The kids are waxing it right now. It's great to have older kids now that will do that.

Woohoo!! It's running again. The starter had to be replaced. Honda dealer wanted $350.00, the rebuilt starter from the local parts house was $99.00!! That price I can handle. Thanks for your input. Have a great and relaxing Sunday.

What Bored You The Most As A JW?
by minimus ini got very bored while i was a witness.. the meetings were so boring!!!.
jws are supposed to be "busy" in the lord's work.
if you're busy, you shouldn't be bored, right?

I thought the meetings were boring too. As a witness kid we were not allowed to watch any "fun" shows on the T.V. We used to go over to some of the friends homes for a Watchtower study-----BORING.
Minimus--My husband said the same thing when he would come back from the elder's meetings. He said it reminded him of the water buffalo club from the Flinstones!!

This month is starting out really bad. We just bought a 92 honda accord and it WAS running just fine. I get in it yesterday and it won't start. I can hear it clicking but the engine will not turn over. The honda dealer is not an option at this time. We have looked online and this seems to happen with this older car. Has anyone had this problem before? We replaced the battery and ($50.00) that wasn't the problem. The hubby has to go out of town next week----I'm left with this car that starts when it wants to. Maybe it's the demons. HAHA. Any suggestions would be helpful. Oh-I do have the owners manual, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen.
Thanks!!!

On TheWayOut--
You are right, I shouldn't have to have all that info to renew my license. This law went into effect last July. Your DMV experience made me laugh. Your photo girl missed her calling for being "professional photographer". HEHEE

Hi guys, I hope all of you had a better day than me!! I need to vent.
So, today I went to the DMV to renew my drivers license. Should be easy huh? I had all my personal info with me: my original drivers license, my birth certificate, and my social security card. Well the stupid state I live in passed a new law last year that says you have to have the ORIGINAL birth certificate that is filed at the record department in the county you were born in. Now, I didn't know this and so after waiting in line (that is a whole other story), and having the clerk tell me this in such a thick accent that he couldn't accept my birth certificate----I just went about postal. The guy behind the counter gave me a website that is called vitalchek and you put down all your info and they take care of getting your certificate. That cost $40.00. I payed extra so that it would be sent sent faster---we will see. This gets better. To request this info you had to print out their form and have it notorized. This was $5.00. I had to swear that I was who I was. Actually, at that time I was cracking up laughing. So I am out $45.00 and still have no license!!! The fee here is $39.00. A quick tally and you can see that the whopping total is $84.00. You know, I love this country but sometimes I wonder what is wrong with these idiots running the government.
Sorry----I'm getting all worked up again!!

The hubby and I are having a late breakfast or early lunch? Can't stop laughing!!!! This thread is hilarious. The kids wanted to know what was so funny.... Anyway, I am not as creative as the others but here are a few.
Like a virgin. (Dare ya not to roll on the floor while singing!!)
Material girl. (only the rich elders wives can sing)
Little red corvette. (Solo by the visiting speaker!!...and yes this really happened. Not the solo, but the speaker did show up in the cool corvette!!)
You've lost that loving feeling.....
Just curious if anyone is from southern California? There was a commercial that had a guy named Cal Worthington and his dog spot... It had a catchy tune. We had at one time a brother who was the "territory servant" who's name was Cal. You practically had to fill out a loan application to get the territory card. A real jerk. We would sing the commercial song "Go see Cal" in the car. It was easier to get a car loan from Cal Worthington and his dog spot than get a territory card. Oh....I was a pioneer and the hubby was an elder at the time. Sorry...you can't see the humor in this unless you lived in Southern California and heard the tune. They played it to death!!!!

It's AMAZING How JWs Accept Things!
by minimus ini'm sure you can think of many different examples of how witnesses simply accept a point of view or a lifestyle and just live with it!.
think of something that all jws must accept.....no blood.
no matter how you scripturally rationalize it, witnesses do not follow their own interpretation of "abstaining" from blood.

How true!! When the information came out about blood fractions, I tried to talk to my mom about it and what she felt "components" meant. Her response was "It's just so complicated". Hmmmm..... Isn't the truth supposed to be simple and make good sense? I think when this info came out my parents were nodding off. The service meeting is past their bedtime.

The cat is back

Hello!!,
It has been a long time since I posted last. Last year I was posting on this forum, (after many years lurking), when a problem came up with my "password" not valid. It was a mess. Then the forum changed and now I am Pandoras cat11, formerly Pandoras cat. I would like to combine the two but if that is not possible, than that's O.K.. Hoping to get the cute black cat avatar back up.
Anyway, since I last posted many things have occured. My family has started this strange "shaming" practice with me and the hubby. I won't get into the details as this post would be pages. I recently read here that there was a bookstudy not long ago about how to deal with disfellowshipped ones and by extentsion inactive ones. We fall in the inactive bin. If you are familiar with my past posts, our family and my husbands, go back to Rutherford. In their minds they are "spiritual pillars". Anyway, I have a problem that has just come up and would like a little advice....
The district assembly is at the end of May and my mother has told me that if me and my husband CHOOSE not to attend than she and dad feel it is important to take MY children to the weekend session. She was clear when she said the weekend because my kids are in school. My kids are 16 and 15 and really don't want to go but they love their grandparents and wish not to hurt their feelings. What to do? It should be pretty clear cut---but if anyone is dealing with this you know that it isn't. It has been a year since we have gone to a meeting and that was the memorial. We didn't go this year because we couldn't bring ourselves to attend a practice that we don't believe in. Our family is under the impression that we went----they just assumed we went. So, what can I say that is respectful and yet gets the point across? I want to avoid having a blow out, this does not help. Oh--the hubby is out of town on business and I think that is the reason why she brought this up.
Thanks, Pandoras cat
